Admissions – Institute of Medicine (IOM), Tribhuvan University

The Institute of Medicine (IOM), under Tribhuvan University, offers admissions for undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in health sciences. All admissions are conducted in accordance with the Medical Education Commission (MEC) guidelines and IOM notices.

Overview

  • Programs Offered: MBBS, BDS, B.Sc. Nursing, BPH, BPharm, BMIT, MD/MS, MDS, MN, MPH, MPharm, MPhil, and PhD.
  • Admission Basis: Merit through MEC Common Entrance Examination (CEE) and fulfillment of IOM eligibility requirements.
  • Seat Allocation: Determined annually by MEC/IOM admission notices.

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate: Completion of 10+2 (Science) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, securing at least 50% aggregate or as specified by MEC.
  • Postgraduate: Relevant bachelor’s degree with internship completion and registration at Nepal Medical Council or equivalent professional council.
  • Foreign Applicants: Valid NEET-UG (for Indian students) or MEC entrance exam qualification.

Admission Process

  1. Check eligibility criteria for the chosen program.
  2. Apply online through the official IOM/MEC portal and upload required documents in PDF format.
  3. Appear for the MEC Common Entrance Examination (CEE).
  4. Participate in the matching/seat allocation process as per published schedules.
  5. Verify documents in person at IOM with originals.
  6. Complete medical examination and pay admission fees.
  7. Commence classes as per academic calendar (generally September/October intake).

  • Class 10 and 12 transcripts and certificates
  • Entrance exam admit card and score sheet (NEET-UG/MEC CEE)
  • Citizenship or passport
  • Recent passport-size photographs
  • Equivalence certificate (for foreign degrees, if applicable)
  • Internship completion and professional council registration (for PG applicants)
